2008 SEASON REGISTRATION INFORMATION
Registration for the 2008 season is CLOSED .
We are excited about our 17th year of Tomahawks lacrosse. As one of the largest and most successful Club Teams in Northern California, we look to build upon our success from last year, which saw 270 players amongst 12 teams spend their Spring having fun, improving their skills, demonstrating teamwork and exhibiting their passion for the game.
This year our challenge will be even greater. We are expecting to continue our hyper-growth.. However, we believe there will be significantly more kids who want to play but will be unable to do so because of limited qualified coaches.
New Coaches and Assistant Coaches Needed!
Therefore we make a plea to all new or current parents (with coaching experience from other sports) with kids that are playing this year. Please consider volunteering to be an assistant coach. We will teach you the game and hopefully in a year or two you can be ready to take over a team of your own enabling our growth by another 22 players! We will provide coaching clinics, assistance and whatever else is needed to have a successful season. We'll shower you with Tomahawks sporting apparel, and even give you a discount on your child's registration fees.

Evaluation, Team Selection and Pre-Season Practice Schedule:
Evaluations of players will take place in December and/or early January. Once the evaluation is completed, players will be assigned a team based on their ability. Teams will begin practices in January/February 2008.
Number of Teams:
In many divisions, we expect to field more than one team. This is of course dependent on the number of signups we have in each division. Your child's team assignment will be made after skill evaluations in January. We field teams at all skill levels (A. B, C and Developmental). Our coaches will be deciding at which level each team plays. We try to balance the skill level of our players and a desire to have a positive sports experience. We don't want our players so high up they often frequently lose against stronger teams, but we also don't want to play teams that we can consistently beat with little effort.
Scholarships:
The Board has set aside funds to assist families requiring scholarship assistance. Requests may be directed in confidence to the Club President or Registrar. If you are aware of students who might be interested in lacrosse, but are constrained due to finances, please let us know.
Fund Raising:
The Club also raises funds by selling t-shirts, fleece pullovers, vests, sweatshirts, flannel underwear, license plates, polo shirts, and hats with the Tomahawks logo. Please support your Club and spread the word by buying team spiritwear! Donations to the Tomahawks Lacrosse Club are tax deductible; we are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, ID# 13-4265190.
Season Schedule:
Practices begin in January/February, and games begin in March and last though the end of May. When we begin actually scheduling games through the NCJLA (the mother organization that coordinates the scheduling amongst the 68 leagues in Northern California, we will post them on our web site).
US Lacrosse:
US Lacrosse membership is included in the registration price; we will collect all required data and send to US Lacrosse. US Lacrosse will send each player a confirmation for a full year membership for new members and for an additional year from your anniversary date for current members. US Lacrosse provides individual, coach, and team insurance for the league and our players.
Wait Listing:
If you are unable to register because the age group is full, please join the waitlist. In the past we have been able to get many players on teams from the waitlist, and it also provides us with knowledge of how many kids want to play the game but can t.
Returning Player Preference:
Tomahawk players from 2007 have a returning registration preference from October 15, 2007 through October 24, 2007.
Parent Volunteering:
VOLUNTEER DUTY REQUIRED from all parents, or you can choose to opt-out and pay a $250 non-volunteer surcharge. This vounteer surcharge is considered a tax-deductible donation to the Tomahawks, as we are an official California non-profit corporation. For some of the more involved positions in the organization, there is a reduction in the Registration Fee. During the sign-up you will be required to select a volunteer position, or pay the additional fee. Several of the volunteer positions offer a discount on registration fees. For descriptions of volunteer positions and their duties, click here.
